If carnivorous plants are so hardy, why did all the VFT's you have ever tried to grow, die?
VFT's are probably the plant worlds equivalent of the red eared slider turtle. For you younger youngsters out there, those were little green turtles that they used to sell in almost any store you went into. We killed by the millions before they ended the slaughter by outlawing the purchase of small turtles. I doubt we will see the same grassroots campaign to stop the VFT slaughter, but a little knowledge will go a long way to ending it.

Contrary to common belief, VFT are not native to Home Depot or museum gift shops.

yet they grow there by the tens of thousands. Their biggest threat is really from strip malls, housing developments, little pots with clear plastic tops for lids, and people digging them up.
I'd tell you to be careful of where you buy your plants, but I've heard of even reputable companies selling wild collected VFT's without realizing it. If you suspect it was wild collected, don't buy it.
