Thought this was interesting. The beginning end of the stem releases a steady stream of bubbles. There are two plants in my windowsill and both plants are doing this. the small one, seen here has a very steady release of small bubbles. The larger stem releases larger bubbles at a slower rate.
This is a closeup of the traps of Utricularia inflata or radiata. I am inclined to think it's inflata as it is surviving through fairly cool conditions well into December. Although I have seen no hibernica, it's not getting that cold, but it's cold enough that I would think that radiata would have died.
U. inflata or radiata. Bought this glass "vase" at Richards, a local Arts and Crafts store. $15. Kind of expensive, but a very nice display. It will get too hot in the summer, so I'll have to protect it or move it out of the sun.
