Carnivorous Plants (CP) are beautiful, and many are easy to grow. OK, OK, so you've killed every Venus Fly Trap you have ever owned. You aren't the only one. In fact, no other CP'er will take you seriously if you haven't killed one. It's like Bonsai, a master has killed a lot of plants. Fortunately, CP are much easier than Bonsai and you won't have to kill a lot of expensive plants, or wait years to have a nice display...although that is an option.

Carnivorous Plants
They don't just have to appeal to strange "Adams Family" types either. CP are fun for a number of traditional gardening reasons. They often have beautiful foliage, flowers, and even a rich history.

Florists have used the foliage of Sarracenia in arrangements for years. The foliage of this southeastern US native looks like a flower from a distance, and puts to shame any other foliage plant I know of. Some are profuse bloomers, and there are those that feel the flowers can rival an orchid's (Well, some think so, but most aren't as large.)

A regular garden plant?
Fun, exotic, and not that hard to grow!
Darwin wrote quite extensively on them. There's a good chance some are native to wherever you live, so they may make a good garden addition for that reason alone. You don't have to be weird and revel in the death of bugs, although some are attracted to that. Personally, I think life is a little better if you are at least somewhat eccentric anyway. This hobby can contribute to putting you on that path.
