This was one of the first bogs I saw in person. I went to a "Gardening with California Natives meeting" in San Mateo. I figured any meeting with California native plants and carnivorous plants had to be attended. Great garden, great bog and great people. Vicki has done an incredible job with this bog and garden.
The grass in the bog, while beautiful, overran all the Drosera. Since seeing that I've declared war on any of the invasive plants that will over-run low growing plants. There are several that come up as weeds and keep coming back in spite of my zero tolerance attitude.
If you don't love Drosera or other low growing plants though, this grasslike plant really looks good and is very impressive in this bog. I wish I could see how it looks now!
Phil is a maticulous grower in Morgan Hill California, and his fantastic plants show it. They are among the most robust I've seen. He has a lot of experience and uses it to get superior results. I wish my bogs looked as nice as his.
He used the standard rigid pond liner you can buy at any good pond store or a Home Depot type outlet. An excellent example of a weekend or two project vs. my 2 year project.

John Green
John has put together a very informative documentation of his barrel and rigid pond liner bogs. There is also a great shot of snow in his Utah bog. If you aren't sure if your plants will survive in a cold or arid region, Utah has both.

Of Pennsylvania
Danny put together a great looking bog in no time flat! There are some pictures of both the finished and in progress bog. Built in the summer of 2004, it looked great from the get-go.
